5 Common Garage Door Myths

In this article, we will share five very common garage doors myths. Let’s get started:

#1. All Garage Doors Are The Same

Just like other products, garage doors are available in many different degrees of quality. If you go with a cheap garage door, then you shouldn’t expect a long life and performance from that garage door. If you go with a well-known and high quality garage door, then you can expect a long life expectancy and great performance.

#2. All Garage Door Services Are The Same

Just as we said in myth #1, you get what you pay for. If you go with the cheapest garage door service in town, then you can expect a cheap job. You’ll most likely run into larger problems down the road because the company may not have repaired or fixed your problem properly.

You should never hire garage door services from the price they offer. You should look at their experience, how long they’ve been in town, check if they are a registered contractor, etc. These are all important things that are more important than price.

#3. Garage Doors Are All Noisy

This is not always the case. Depending on what type of garage door you purchased, a noisy garage door could possibly mean a critical component of your garage door is failing. It can also mean that whoever installed your garage door may have done a poor job.

#4. Garage Doors Should Never Require Maintenance

Your garage door is one of the largest moving objects in your home. Keep in mind, garage doors are under an immense strain. We would encourage routine maintenance to ensure that you get the maximum life expectancy from your garage door.

#5. Garage Doors All Look The Same… Shouldn’t I Get The Cheap, Ugly One?

Today there are thousands of different looks and designs for garage door. Of course the better looking ones usually cost more money, because the manufacturers put more work into that certain garage door.

On most homes, the garage does account for 1/3 curb appeal, and some studies have shown that having the “right” garage door can actually raise the resale value of a home as much as 14%.
